Upon listening to the playing of Claire Huangci -

Dear Frank, I'll be franck with you (pun intended!) - Fräulein Huangci is very talented indeed, but she is still very young (23 years!) and one can hear that - she has a very delicate, cat-like touche, she is very good at expressing subtle nuances of lyrical emotion, but...

1) her tone-control is still imperfect (uneven), which causes her to muffle sometimes some parts of musical phrases;
2) the range of her tone-colouring is very limited (as soon as she tries to play forte or fortissimo, her sound acquires a character of metallic ringing, which should be avoided);
3) she does not hold the tempo very well (even beyond rubato and agogics);
4) she lacks the fiery power, which is necessary to play highly energetic pieces (especially Beethoven's) adequately;
5) her phrasing is often very unconvincing and even infantile (especially in Bach's Die Französische Ouvertüre);
6) and last, but not least, her finger dexterity is not sufficient yet to preserve clarity of texture in rapid passagework.

Not to mention her frequent misses in fast-tempo episodes. I think, Miss Huangci has a bright future ahead, she just needs more time to have both her individuality and her pianism to mature. Thank you for introducing the engaging art of this promising young pianist to us!

Dear Silvio, thank you very much for your assessment of Claire Huangci's recital. My 'worse' (amateur-)ears can't hear all the critical points, that you pointed out; but - of course - they may exist. I'm not able to note it. I belief you.
