GABOR LEHOTKA (1938) was awarded the Liszt prize as well as the title of Artist of Merit of the Hungarian People's Republic. He is an outstanding organist. He studied the organ under Ferenc Gergely and Sebes-tydn Pecsi and composition under Endre Szervanszky. His performance shows that thorough grounding and a refined registration which make him a sovereign master of the instrument. One of his many recordings has become a Golden Disc and one of his Bach recordings was chosen as Record of the Year in 1980. Apart from his recitals in Hungary, Lehotka has regularly played in almost every country in Europe. He has been teaching since 1969, first at the Bartok Bela Specialized Secondary School of Music and from 1975 at the Budapest Academy of Music.
