Maureen Forrester (1930-2010) was one of the few renowned alto singers during the period after 1945. In her singing, fullness and euphony of sound was combined with an extraordinary beauty of line and expression of the very greatest refinement.
For those who do not yet know the only voice comparable to that of Kathleen Ferrier in the second half of the twentieth century, or who would know it only with accompaniment of orchestra, this box, of an impeccable quality sound, will be thus a source of enviable discoveries.
