Stefan Irmer became known as an outstanding interpreter of unknown and rarely played works of piano literature. In concert series, conversation concerts and radio features, he presented the piano music Muzio Clementis and Gioachino Rossini, and so on. on the occasion of the 200th birthday of Rossini in 1992 in the WDR, on the Clementi concert cycle 1994 in Cologne and Essen and in June 2001 on a historic fortepiano in Bogota, built by Clementi. For his recording of the most important sonata cycles Clementis on three CDs at MDG, he received the French record award "CHOC".
