Let us assume that he did not set his Christian texts as a Jew flirting with Christianity. And did not compose his texts from the Jewish faith world as a strict Jew but as a cosmopolitan who was concerned not primarily with the words but with inspiration to compose, with the music.
His inclination toward the opera with realism and with strong emotions is already quite unmistakable in his early miniatures.>
